Portrait Welcome to my academic webpage. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Campus Institute for Dynamics of Biological Networks at the Georg-August University Göttingen.

My research focuses on developing information-theoretical and statistical methods to analyze and understand complex systems. In doing so I am using a strongly interdisciplinary approach combining mathematics, natural science, and philosophy.

Many of today’s most intriguing complex systems—from neural circuits to AI systems—can be understood as powerful information processing systems: they store, transfer, and integrate information in diverse ways.

It is through these processes that such systems achieve their remarkable macroscopic properties, from coordinated behavior to decision-making and learning, and perhaps even subjective experience.
